With cruising around the world being my ultimate goal… I figured I had better get started doing some cross-country sailing in this boat I purchased to learn on. So, being harbored on Lake Michigan… it’s a great place for some serious sailing!
My first instinct was to sail directly across the lake to the nearest port abeam my harbor in Waukegan, IL. Unfortunately, the there was a massive sailing regatta going on that weekend and I couldn’t find a single slip available in the harbors. So, I tweaked my plan to more Southeast and targeted Michigan City, IN.
